What is changing at Dong Hoi airport

• A new passenger terminal. In July 2026, Dan Tri reported that work on Terminal 2 was speeding up. When it is finished, the airport will be able to handle about 3 million domestic passengers a year and up to 1,200 passengers in the peak hour.
• New domestic routes. Sun PhuQuoc Airways started a Dong Hoi – Cam Ranh route on 16 August 2026, with three return flights a week, and runs a daily Dong Hoi – Hanoi flight.
• International plans. The province has long planned more international flights from Dong Hoi, but in 2026 the regular network is domestic.

What to expect at immigration on a charter to Dong Hoi

• A small terminal, a full plane. Dong Hoi’s current terminal is small, and a new one is still being built. When a full charter lands, all passengers reach passport control at once.
• Tour groups first in line. Charter passengers are often cave-tour and beach groups who move through together, so independent travellers can end up at the back.
• Visa on arrival adds a stop. If you need a visa on arrival, or collect a loose-leaf visa with a Chinese e-passport, you stop at the landing visa counter first.
• Plan your onward trip. Phong Nha is about an hour away, and many cave tours start early the next morning.

Do you need Dong Hoi airport fast track?

On an international charter, fast track is worth booking if:

• you need a visa on arrival or a loose-leaf visa;
• you travel with older relatives or young children;
• you travel independently on a flight full of tour groups;
• you land late and want to reach Phong Nha or your beach hotel quickly.

However, if you hold an e-visa or enter visa-free and travel light, you may manage without it. If you fly in from Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City or Cam Ranh, there is no passport control at Dong Hoi; book fast track where you enter Vietnam instead, for example Noi Bai airport fast track.

How fast track works at Dong Hoi

1. Meet our staff. First, our staff wait with your name board at the entrance to the arrival immigration area.
2. Visa counter, if needed. Then we help you at the landing visa counter. You pay the USD 25 stamping fee in cash.
3. Priority lane. After that, we take you through passport control.
4. Baggage and customs (VIP). Finally, we help you at the baggage belt and through customs.

Packages and prices for Dong Hoi airport fast track

However, no package includes the visa itself, the USD 25 government stamping fee for a visa on arrival, photo fees or transport.

Therefore, please book at least 24 hours before your flight, so we can arrange staff at Dong Hoi. In addition, bookings made 2 days, 1 day or less than 24 hours before arrival carry an urgent surcharge of USD 20, USD 30 or USD 50. The booking form shows it before you pay.

• Dong Hoi city and Nhat Le beach: a short drive of about 10 to 15 minutes.
• Phong Nha village and the caves: about 45 km, roughly 1 hour by car. Many tour operators for Son Doong and Hang En include airport pick-up.

What if I fly to Dong Hoi from Hanoi?

Domestic flights have no immigration check, so you do not need arrival fast track at Dong Hoi. Book it at Noi Bai, where you enter Vietnam, if you want to skip the queue there.
