What changed at Lien Khuong in 2026

  • Runway upgrade. The airport closed for about six months for runway work and reopened on 19 August 2026, first with domestic flights only.
  • Bigger aircraft. After the upgrade, Lien Khuong can receive wide-body aircraft such as the Airbus A350 and Boeing 787.
  • International routes. Flights to and from Kuala Lumpur were announced from September 2026, four times a week, and Singapore from December 2026, three times a week, according to VnEconomy (20 August 2026).

How busy is immigration at Lien Khuong?

With a few international flights a week, the immigration hall normally serves one flight at a time, so there are no long multi-flight queues like at Tan Son Nhat. Still, every passenger on the flight reaches passport control at the same moment, so the last people in the queue wait longest. Visa-on-arrival travellers first stop at the landing visa counter. Domestic arrivals, for example from Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City, have no immigration check.

Do you need Lien Khuong airport fast track?

  • You arrive from Kuala Lumpur or Singapore: fast track is helpful if you need a visa on arrival, travel with family or older relatives, or want to be first through passport control and on your way up the hill to Da Lat.
  • You arrive on a domestic flight: you do not need arrival fast track at Lien Khuong.
  • You enter Vietnam at Tan Son Nhat or Noi Bai and fly on to Da Lat: book fast track at your entry airport. See our Tan Son Nhat airport fast track guide. With the VIP + domestic connection package, our staff also take you to your domestic terminal there.

Many travellers from Singapore and Malaysia can enter Vietnam visa-free for a short stay, so they skip the visa counter. They still pass passport control, and fast track still helps there.

How fast track works at Lien Khuong

  1. Meet our staff. First, our staff wait with your name board at the entrance to the arrival immigration area.
