Noi Bai Airport Fast Track (HAN): Faster Arrival at Hanoi’s International Terminal

Noi Bai is Hanoi’s international airport and the main gateway to northern Vietnam, Ha Long Bay and Sapa. Its international terminal was expanded in late 2025, and new immigration lanes started in August 2026, so waiting times have improved. Even so, the queue can still be long when several flights land together. Our Noi Bai airport fast track service meets you with a name board before the immigration counters and takes you through the priority lane.
Below you will find what changed at Noi Bai, how busy arrival immigration is now, and when HAN airport fast track is worth booking.
We are a private travel service, not the Vietnamese government. Vietnam Immigration still checks your passport and visa and decides on your entry.

What is new at Noi Bai in 2025–2026
- Expanded Terminal 2. The expansion of the international terminal was inaugurated in December 2025, with more space and more automated equipment for check-in and passenger processing.
- Separate immigration lanes from August 2026. Noi Bai’s border guards now split arrivals into separate lanes, including lanes for VIP and priority passengers, foreign citizens, aircrew, Vietnamese citizens and transit passengers. According to reports in August 2026, the average processing time for Vietnamese citizens fell from about 26–27 minutes to about 16 minutes.
- Strong growth. The airport served about 18.2 million passengers in the first half of 2026, about 10% more than a year earlier.
How busy is immigration at Noi Bai?
Before the changes, travellers often reported peak waits from 30 minutes to more than an hour. The new lanes help, but traffic is also growing. Queues are still most likely in the late evening and around midnight, when many flights from East Asia and Southeast Asia arrive, and in the morning when long-haul flights from Europe and the Middle East land. At Lunar New Year and in the summer holidays, every time slot is busier.
The foreigners’ lane is separate from the Vietnamese citizens’ lane, so improvements for Vietnamese citizens do not always mean a short wait for foreign visitors. If you also need a visa on arrival, the landing visa counter comes first, and that stop alone can take time.
Arriving at Noi Bai on a charter flight
Many tour groups, especially from China and Korea, reach Noi Bai on charter flights for trips to Hanoi, Ha Long Bay, Ninh Binh and Sapa. For charter passengers, the arrival at Terminal 2 often looks like this:
- Late arrivals. Many charters land in the evening or around midnight, together with scheduled flights from East and Southeast Asia, so the foreigners’ lanes fill quickly.
- Group paperwork. A tour group with visa-on-arrival letters or loose-leaf visas goes to the landing visa counter together, and that stop can take a long time for a full plane.
- A fixed onward plan. Tours to Ha Long Bay or Ninh Binh often start early the next morning, so every hour at the airport counts.
Our Noi Bai airport fast track service is a good fit for charter travellers: our staff meet you at the immigration entrance, help at the visa counter and take you through the priority lane ahead of the group. You can book for one person, a family or the whole group. Simply enter the charter flight number on your tour voucher when you book.
Do you need Noi Bai airport fast track?
Book HAN airport fast track if:
- you land in an evening or morning arrival wave, or in a holiday period;
- you need a visa on arrival or a loose-leaf visa (for Chinese e-passports);
- you have a tour to Ha Long Bay or Ninh Binh, or a meeting, soon after landing;
- you travel with children, older relatives or a lot of luggage (choose VIP).
You may not need it if you land at a quiet time, already have an e-visa and travel light. Business-class passengers, top-tier frequent flyers of Vietnamese airlines, ABTC holders and diplomats can usually use the priority lane without our service.
