Expediting Vietnam Visa for Australia: Urgent Options for Australian Passport Holders

Australians do not get visa-free entry to Vietnam, and many only remember the visa a week or two before a holiday in Hoi An, Nha Trang or Ho Chi Minh City. If you are expediting a Vietnam visa from Australia, the good news is the time difference works in your favour: Vietnam’s government working day starts at lunchtime on the east coast, so you can order in the morning and often have the result the same evening.
This guide explains the two ways to get a Vietnam visa fast, the order times in Sydney, Brisbane and Perth time, how to avoid look-alike “official” websites, and what to do in each situation.
We are a private visa service, not the Vietnamese or Australian government. Vietnam Immigration decides every visa, so no service can guarantee approval.
Two ways of expediting a Vietnam visa from Australia

| Your situation | The right service | What happens |
|---|---|---|
| You have not applied yet, or your application has a mistake | Urgent new e-visa | We check your passport scan, photo and details, submit the application and deliver the result in 8, 4 or 2 working hours, or the same day at weekends and on Vietnamese public holidays |
| You already applied on evisa.gov.vn and it is still “in processing” | Speed-up of your existing application | We follow up the application you submitted, so the result is released faster. No second government fee |
First, check where you applied
Searches in Australia for the “official” Vietnam e-visa website rose sharply in 2026, because look-alike sites are easy to land on. The Vietnam e-visa portal names only two official addresses: evisa.gov.vn and thithucdientu.gov.vn. The government fee there is USD 25 for single entry and USD 50 for multiple entry.
- You paid USD 25 or 50 on one of those sites and have a registration code: you applied directly, and we can speed it up.
- You paid much more to another website: you used an agency. Its order number is not a government code. Ask that agency first.
- No registration code at all? we cannot speed up an application without it. An urgent new application is the faster route.
Where are you right now?
People expediting a Vietnam visa from Australia, or travelling on a passport from Australia elsewhere, are usually in one of these situations:
- At home in Australia, flying this week. For example, direct flights from Sydney, Melbourne and other cities take around eight to nine hours, so your deadline is your departure, usually the day before.
- Already in Bali, Singapore or Bangkok, and adding Vietnam to the trip. As a result, you are within 1 to 2 hours of Vietnam time.
- At the airport, and the airline will not board you. Even so, on a Vietnamese working day, the 2-working-hour option may still save the flight. Also, at the weekend or on a Vietnamese public holiday, a new application can still be processed (see the weekend section below).
- On a cruise that stops in Vietnam. First, check what your cruise line requires. If it asks you to arrange your own visa, the e-visa lists seaports as entry points.
- Travelling with family or a group. However, each person needs their own visa, including children. So, send all passports in one order.
Order times in Australian time
From October to early April, Sydney and Melbourne are on daylight saving time, 4 hours ahead of Vietnam. Brisbane is 3 hours ahead and Perth 1 hour ahead.
| Vietnam time | Sydney / Melbourne (AEDT) | Brisbane (AEST) | Perth (AWST) |
|---|---|---|---|
| 08:00: first cut-off | 12:00 | 11:00 | 09:00 |
| 14:00: afternoon cut-off | 18:00 | 17:00 | 15:00 |
| 15:00: last 2-hour cut-off | 19:00 | 18:00 | 16:00 |
| 18:30: latest result | 22:30 | 21:30 | 19:30 |

These cut-offs are the key to expediting a Vietnam visa from Australia without losing a day.
In practice: order before midday in Sydney for the 8-working-hour option, and the result can arrive by 22:30 the same night. On a Monday morning in Australia, the Vietnamese working day has not started yet.

Weekends and Vietnamese public holidays: yes, urgent visas are possible on those days too. See the next section.
Urgent Vietnam visa on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays
Vietnam’s government offices are closed at weekends and on public holidays. Even so, expediting a Vietnam visa from Australia is still possible on those days with a new e-visa application, through our weekend and holiday service:
| Weekend or holiday e-visa | Order and pay before | Result by | Price per person |
|---|---|---|---|
| Single entry, 1 or 3 months, tourism or business | 14:30 Vietnam time (18:30 in Sydney, 15:30 in Perth) | 18:30 Vietnam time (22:30 in Sydney, 19:30 in Perth) | USD 230 |
| Multiple entry, 1 or 3 months, tourism or business | 14:30 Vietnam time (18:30 in Sydney, 15:30 in Perth) | 18:30 Vietnam time (22:30 in Sydney, 19:30 in Perth) | USD 290 |
For Australians, that means ordering by early evening in Sydney and receiving the result the same night. Prices include the government fee.
Who can use the weekend service?
The weekend and holiday service is available for citizens of 92 countries and territories, and Australia is one of them.
Which days are covered?
Every Saturday and Sunday, and these Vietnamese holidays: New Year’s Day (1 January), Tet (Lunar New Year, dates change each year), Hung Kings’ Commemoration Day (10th day of the third lunar month), Reunification Day (30 April), Labour Day (1 May), the Public Security Traditional Day (19 August, when the Immigration Department is closed) and National Day (2 September).
How the weekend service works
- First, send us your passport scan, portrait photo, home address, address in Vietnam and email, either through the weekend and holiday form or by email to info@vietnamimmigration.org.
- Then we check your details and confirm the slot by email, with a PayPal payment link (cards accepted).
- Next, pay before 14:30 Vietnam time.
- Finally, your e-visa arrives by email by 18:30 Vietnam time the same day.
Good to know before you order
- New applications only. On these days, a speed-up of an application already in processing waits until the next Vietnamese working day. So if you cannot wait, a new weekend application is the way to get your visa the same day.
- Left Vietnam only a few days ago? Send a photo of the exit stamp in your passport as well. New exit records sometimes take a few days to appear in the system, and the stamp helps avoid a delay.
- Weekend and holiday orders go through our partner site, vietnamimmigration.org. The booking form runs on a third-party form tool that does not load well in every browser. For the fastest reply, email your request directly to info@vietnamimmigration.org. Our team watches this inbox 24/7, including weekends and public holidays, and replies as soon as an urgent visa request arrives.
If the button does not open your email app, copy the address info@vietnamimmigration.org and send your request from Gmail, Outlook or any email account you use. Write “Urgent weekend e-visa request” in the subject line.
Prices for speeding up an application in processing
In this case, you keep the application and government fee you already paid. Speed-ups run Monday to Friday only:
| Option | Order before (Sydney, AEDT) | Result by (Sydney) | Service fee |
|---|---|---|---|
| 8 working hours | 12:00 | 22:30 | USD 145 |
| 4 working hours | 12:00 or 18:00 | 16:30 or 22:30 | USD 175 |
| 2 working hours | 12:00, 14:00, 18:00 or 19:00 | 14:00, 16:00, 20:00 or 22:00 | USD 200 |
For this, we need your registration code, the email you used, your date of birth, entry date and entry port. Our guide for an Australian passport with an e-visa still in processing covers the status in detail.
Expediting a Vietnam visa from Australia yourself: why it is risky
If you have several weeks, applying yourself on the official portal is the cheapest option. When time is short, it is risky:
- There is no paid express option on the government portal. Instead, the official target is 3 working days, counted only from a complete, error-free application. In our experience, many applications take 5 to 7 working days, and longer before Christmas and Tet.
- There is no hotline that speeds up your file, and Australian consular staff cannot do it for you either.
- Also, small errors restart the process. A photo with glasses, glare on the passport scan or a missing middle name can mean a new application and a new fee.
- Look-alike sites waste days. Some charge high fees and only forward your details later.
In contrast, we have handled urgent Vietnam visas for more than 10 years. We check every detail before submission, follow the application through each Vietnamese working session and show the expected result time before you pay. If we miss that time, or the visa is refused, we refund the amount we received. PayPal keeps its transaction fee (about 5%). See our refund policy.
What Smartraveller says
Australia’s Smartraveller advice for Vietnam tells travellers to make sure they have the correct visa before arriving, and to contact a Vietnamese embassy or consulate when unsure. Vietnam also generally requires your passport to be valid for at least 6 months. In addition, enter through the airport, seaport or land border you chose in your application.
Other routes, and when they make sense
When you are expediting a Vietnam visa from Australia, the e-visa is usually the fastest route. The alternatives below fit only some trips:
- Embassy of Vietnam in Canberra or the consulate in Sydney: suitable for some special visa types, but slower than an urgent e-visa.
- Visa on arrival approval letter: 15 days, single entry, with a stop at the landing visa counter on arrival.
- Phu Quoc only: visa-free for up to 30 days if you fly there directly from abroad and stay on the island.
How to order: expediting your Vietnam visa from Australia

- Next, choose the time option. The form shows the expected result time and the total before you pay.
