Expediting Vietnam Visa for Canada: Urgent E-Visa Options for Canadian Passport Holders

Canadian passport holders need a visa for Vietnam, and many only realise it a few days before a trip to Hanoi, Hoi An or Ho Chi Minh City. Expediting a Vietnam visa from Canada has two challenges: Vietnam’s working day happens while most of Canada is asleep, and the Government of Canada warns that a submitted e-visa application cannot be edited. This guide explains the two fast options, the order times in Toronto, Calgary and Vancouver time, and what to do in each situation.
We are a private visa service, not the Vietnamese or Canadian government. Vietnam Immigration decides every visa, so no service can guarantee approval.
Two ways of expediting a Vietnam visa from Canada

| Your situation | The right service | What happens |
|---|---|---|
| You have not applied yet, or your application has a mistake | Urgent new e-visa | We check your passport scan, photo and details, submit the application and deliver the result in 8, 4 or 2 working hours, or the same day at weekends and on Vietnamese public holidays |
| You already applied on evisa.gov.vn and it is still “in processing” | Speed-up of your existing application | We follow up the application you submitted, so the result is released faster. No second government fee |
What the Government of Canada says
Canada’s travel advice for Vietnam (updated 19 October 2026) lists points that decide which service you need:
- Canadian passport holders must have a visa to enter Vietnam. A regular Canadian passport can get a single- or multiple-entry e-visa for up to 90 days.
- Temporary passports and emergency travel documents cannot be used for an e-visa.
- Your name, date of birth and their order must match your passport exactly. A submitted application cannot be edited, and the fee is not refunded.
- The e-visa is valid only at the port of entry in the approval.
- Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond the date you leave Vietnam.
Therefore, if your application has a wrong name or date of birth, speeding it up does not help. Instead, start a new, checked application.
Where are you right now?
People expediting a Vietnam visa from Canada, or travelling on a Canadian passport elsewhere, are usually in one of these situations:
- At home in Canada, flying this week. Most trips connect in Asia, so your deadline is your first departure from Canada, not your arrival in Vietnam.
- Already travelling in Asia, for example in Seoul, Tokyo or Bangkok, and adding Vietnam. As a result, you are within a few hours of Vietnam time.
- At the airport, and the airline will not board you. Even so, on a Vietnamese working day, the 2-working-hour option may still save the flight. Also, at the weekend or on a Vietnamese public holiday, a new application can still be processed (see the weekend section below).
- Married to a Vietnamese citizen, or the child of one. You may qualify for a visa exemption through the Embassy of Vietnam in Canada, but that takes time. For an urgent trip, the e-visa is faster.
- Travelling on an emergency travel document. You cannot get an e-visa. Contact a Vietnamese embassy or consulate.
Vietnam is 12 to 15 hours ahead of Canada
From 1 November 2026 to March 2027, Vietnam is 12 hours ahead of Toronto, 14 hours ahead of Calgary and 15 hours ahead of Vancouver:
| Vietnam time | Toronto (EST) | Calgary (MST) | Vancouver (PST) |
|---|---|---|---|
| 08:00 Monday: first cut-off | 20:00 Sunday | 18:00 Sunday | 17:00 Sunday |
| 14:00 Monday: afternoon cut-off | 02:00 Monday | 00:00 Monday | 23:00 Sunday |
| 15:00 Monday: last 2-hour cut-off | 03:00 Monday | 01:00 Monday | 00:00 Monday |
| 18:30 Monday: latest result | 06:30 Monday | 04:30 Monday | 03:30 Monday |

These cut-offs are the key to expediting a Vietnam visa from Canada without losing a day. In practice: order on Sunday evening in Canada, and an 8-working-hour result can be in your inbox early on Monday morning.

Weekends and Vietnamese public holidays: yes, urgent visas are possible on those days too. See the next section.
Urgent Vietnam visa on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays
Vietnam’s government offices are closed at weekends and on public holidays. Even so, expediting a Vietnam visa from Canada is still possible on those days with a new e-visa application, through our weekend and holiday service:
| Weekend or holiday e-visa | Order and pay before | Result by | Price per person |
|---|---|---|---|
| Single entry, 1 or 3 months, tourism or business | 14:30 Vietnam time (02:30 in Toronto, 23:30 the evening before in Vancouver) | 18:30 Vietnam time (06:30 in Toronto, 03:30 in Vancouver) | USD 230 |
| Multiple entry, 1 or 3 months, tourism or business | 14:30 Vietnam time (02:30 in Toronto, 23:30 the evening before in Vancouver) | 18:30 Vietnam time (06:30 in Toronto, 03:30 in Vancouver) | USD 290 |
For Canadian travellers, that means ordering in the late evening or night before, Canadian time. Prices include the government fee.
Who can use the weekend service?
The weekend and holiday service is available for citizens of 92 countries and territories, and Canada is one of them.
Which days are covered?
Every Saturday and Sunday, and these Vietnamese holidays: New Year’s Day (1 January), Tet (Lunar New Year, dates change each year), Hung Kings’ Commemoration Day (10th day of the third lunar month), Reunification Day (30 April), Labour Day (1 May), the Public Security Traditional Day (19 August, when the Immigration Department is closed) and National Day (2 September).
How the weekend service works
- First, send us your passport scan, portrait photo, home address, address in Vietnam and email, either through the weekend and holiday form or by email to info@vietnamimmigration.org.
- Then we check your details and confirm the slot by email, with a PayPal payment link (cards accepted).
- Next, pay before 14:30 Vietnam time.
- Finally, your e-visa arrives by email by 18:30 Vietnam time the same day.
Good to know before you order
- New applications only. On these days, a speed-up of an application already in processing waits until the next Vietnamese working day. So if you cannot wait, a new weekend application is the way to get your visa the same day.
- Left Vietnam only a few days ago? Send a photo of the exit stamp in your passport as well. New exit records sometimes take a few days to appear in the system, and the stamp helps avoid a delay.
- Weekend and holiday orders go through our partner site, vietnamimmigration.org. The booking form runs on a third-party form tool that does not load well in every browser. For the fastest reply, email your request directly to info@vietnamimmigration.org. Our team watches this inbox 24/7, including weekends and public holidays, and replies as soon as an urgent visa request arrives.
If the button does not open your email app, copy the address info@vietnamimmigration.org and send your request from Gmail, Outlook or any email account you use. Write “Urgent weekend e-visa request” in the subject line.
Prices for speeding up an application in processing
In this case, you keep the application and government fee you already paid. Speed-ups run Monday to Friday only:
| Option | Order before (Vietnam time) | Result by (Vietnam time) | Service fee |
|---|---|---|---|
| 8 working hours | 08:00 | 18:30 | USD 145 |
| 4 working hours | 08:00 or 14:00 | 12:30 or 18:30 | USD 175 |
| 2 working hours | 08:00, 10:00, 14:00 or 15:00 | 10:00, 12:00, 16:00 or 18:00 | USD 200 |
For this, we need your registration code, the email you used, your date of birth, entry date and entry port. Our main guide for e-visas in processing explains the status in detail.
Expediting a Vietnam visa from Canada yourself: why it is risky
Of course, if your trip is weeks away, applying yourself on the official portal is fine. When time is short, it is risky:
- There is no paid express option on the government portal. Instead, the official target is 3 working days, counted only from a complete, error-free application. In our experience, many applications take 5 to 7 working days, and longer before holidays.
- There is no hotline that speeds up your file. The Government of Canada also points out that a submitted application cannot be edited.
- Also, small errors restart the process. A name that does not match the passport, a photo with glasses or glare on the passport scan can mean a new application and a new fee.
- Time zones work against you. By the time you see an email from Vietnam, the working day there is over.
In contrast, we have handled urgent Vietnam visas for more than 10 years. We check every detail before submission, follow the application through each Vietnamese working session and show the expected result time before you pay. If we miss that time, or the visa is refused, we refund the amount we received. PayPal keeps its transaction fee (about 5%). See our refund policy.
Other routes, and when they make sense
When you are expediting a Vietnam visa from Canada, the e-visa is usually the fastest route. The alternatives below fit only some trips:
- Embassy of Vietnam in Ottawa: needed for stays longer than 90 days and for some special visas, but slower.
- Visa on arrival approval letter: 15 days, single entry, with a stop at the landing visa counter on arrival.
- Phu Quoc only: visa-free for up to 30 days if you fly there directly from abroad and stay on the island.
How to order: expediting your Vietnam visa from Canada
- First, choose the service: urgent new e-visa or speed-up of an existing application. At weekends and on holidays, email info@vietnamimmigration.org.
- Next, choose the time option. The form shows the expected result time and the total before you pay.
- Then upload your passport scan and photo, or enter your registration code.
- Finally, pay by card through PayPal. We email the result as soon as Vietnam Immigration releases it.
FAQ: expediting a Vietnam visa from Canada
What is the fastest way to get a Vietnam visa from Canada?
For expediting a Vietnam visa from Canada, choose an urgent new e-visa with the 2-working-hour option, ordered before 08:00, 10:00, 14:00 or 15:00 Vietnam time on a Vietnamese working day. In Canada, that is the evening or night before.
Can I fix a mistake in my e-visa application?
No. The Government of Canada notes that a submitted application cannot be edited. Start a new, checked application instead.
Can I get a Vietnam visa on the weekend?
Yes, also on Vietnamese public holidays, as a new application. Email info@vietnamimmigration.org for the fastest reply, or use our weekend and holiday form. Order before 14:30 Vietnam time for a result by 18:30 the same day.
Do I need to fill in a pre-arrival form?
Vietnam’s Immigration Department asks foreign travellers arriving at Noi Bai, Tan Son Nhat, Da Nang, Cam Ranh and Phu Quoc to complete a free pre-arrival declaration at prearrival.immigration.gov.vn within 3 days before arrival. Official notices call it strongly advised, so do it before you fly to avoid delays. If you travel on a visa on arrival, complete it at the airport after you receive your visa at the landing visa counter. Our Vietnam entry procedure guide explains every step.
Does a Canadian holiday slow down my visa?
No. In fact, only Vietnamese working days and public holidays count.
How long can Canadians stay on a Vietnam e-visa?
Up to 90 days, single or multiple entry.
