Expediting a Vietnam visa works the same way for almost every nationality: since August 2023, citizens of all countries and territories can apply for the Vietnam e-visa. However, what changes is whether you need a visa at all, which name and passport details trip people up, and when Vietnam’s government working day falls in your own time zone. This guide brings it together by nationality, with links to detailed guides for the largest groups of visitors.

We are a private visa service, not the Vietnamese government. Vietnam Immigration decides every visa, so no service can guarantee approval.

Step 1: Do you need a visa at all?

Expediting Vietnam visa by nationality: check visa-free entry first, then choose an urgent new e-visa or a speed-up

First, before you pay for anything urgent, check whether your passport is visa-free. As of November 2026, these ordinary passports can enter Vietnam without a visa for short stays:

GroupPassportsStay without a visa
Unilateral exemption, Resolution 44/NQ-CP (to 14 March 2028)Germany, France, Italy, Spain, United Kingdom, Russia, Japan, South Korea, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, FinlandUp to 45 days
Tourism stimulus exemption, Resolution 229/NQ-CP (15 August 2025 to 14 August 2028)Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Hungary, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, SwitzerlandUp to 45 days, for tourism
ASEAN agreementsBrunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand14 to 30 days, depending on the country
Other bilateral agreementsFor example Chile, Panama, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and MongoliaVaries by agreement

However, if your stay is longer than the visa-free period, or you work in Vietnam, you still need a visa. Exemptions also have conditions, such as a valid return or onward ticket. Check with a Vietnamese embassy or consulate if you are unsure.

Phu Quoc island: foreign visitors who fly directly to Phu Quoc from abroad and stay only on the island can usually enter visa-free for up to 30 days, whatever their nationality.

Step 2: Choose the right way of expediting

There are three ways of expediting a Vietnam visa, and the right one depends on where your application stands:

Your situationThe right service
You have not applied yet, or your application has a mistakeUrgent new e-visa: we check your details, submit the application and deliver the result in 8, 4 or 2 working hours, or the same day at weekends and on Vietnamese public holidays
You applied on evisa.gov.vn and it is still “in processing”Speed-up of your existing application: we follow up the application you submitted. No second government fee
You fly in, stay 15 days or less and need one entryVisa on arrival: we obtain an approval letter, and you collect the visa at the airport

For all other nationalities, expediting a Vietnam visa follows the same steps on this page. Travellers from the UAE, Qatar and Saudi Arabia can also read our guides in Arabic.

Step 3: Find your order deadline in your time zone

Vietnam Immigration works Monday to Friday, 08:00 to 12:00 and 14:00 to 18:00, Vietnam time (GMT+7). As a result, our cut-offs follow that working day. This table shows the two most important cut-offs in common time zones, in standard time:

Expediting Vietnam visa: order cut-offs at 08:00 and 15:00 Vietnam time shown in time zones around the world

In short, expediting a Vietnam visa works best when you order before the cut-off in your own time zone.

Note that daylight saving time moves these by an hour. The order form always shows the expected result time before you pay.

Who can use the weekend service?

The weekend and holiday service is available for citizens of these 92 countries and territories: Albania, Algeria, Andorra, Argentina, Armenia, Australia, Austria, Azerbaijan, Bahrain, Barbados, Belgium, Belize, Bhutan, Bolivia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Brazil, Bulgaria, Canada, China, Colombia, Costa Rica, Croatia, Cuba, Cyprus, Czechia (Czech Republic), Dominica, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Estonia, Fiji, Georgia, Greece, Guatemala, Honduras, Hong Kong, Hungary, Iceland, India, Ireland, Jordan, Kuwait, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Macao, Maldives, Malta, Mexico, Micronesia, Moldova, Monaco, Montenegro, Morocco, Nauru, Nepal, Netherlands, New Zealand, Nicaragua, North Macedonia, Oman, Palau, Papua New Guinea, Paraguay, Peru, Poland, Portugal, Qatar, Romania, San Marino, Saudi Arabia, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, South Africa, Suriname, Switzerland, Taiwan, Tajikistan, Timor-Leste, Trinidad and Tobago, Tunisia, Turkey, Turkmenistan, Tuvalu, Ukraine, United Arab Emirates, United States, Uruguay, Uzbekistan, Venezuela.

Citizens of visa-free countries, such as the United Kingdom, Germany, Japan or South Korea, can also use it when they need a visa for a longer stay than the visa-free period, or a business visa.

Which days are covered?

Every Saturday and Sunday, and these Vietnamese holidays: New Year’s Day (1 January), Tet (Lunar New Year, dates change each year), Hung Kings’ Commemoration Day (10th day of the third lunar month), Reunification Day (30 April), Labour Day (1 May), the Public Security Traditional Day (19 August, when the Immigration Department is closed) and National Day (2 September).

How the weekend service works

  1. First, send us your passport scan, portrait photo, home address, address in Vietnam and email, either through the weekend and holiday form or by email to info@vietnamimmigration.org.
  2. Then we check your details and confirm the slot by email, with a PayPal payment link (cards accepted).
  3. Next, pay before 14:30 Vietnam time.
  4. Finally, your e-visa arrives by email by 18:30 Vietnam time the same day.

Good to know before you order

  • New applications only. On these days, a speed-up of an application already in processing waits until the next Vietnamese working day. So if you cannot wait, a new weekend application is the way to get your visa the same day.
  • Left Vietnam only a few days ago? Send a photo of the exit stamp in your passport as well. New exit records sometimes take a few days to appear in the system, and the stamp helps avoid a delay.
  • Weekend and holiday orders go through our partner site, vietnamimmigration.org. The booking form runs on a third-party form tool that does not load well in every browser. For the fastest reply, email your request directly to info@vietnamimmigration.org. Our team watches this inbox 24/7, including weekends and public holidays, and replies as soon as an urgent visa request arrives.

If the button does not open your email app, copy the address info@vietnamimmigration.org and send your request from Gmail, Outlook or any email account you use. Write “Urgent weekend e-visa request” in the subject line.

Why expediting yourself rarely works

  • There is no paid express option on the government portal. Instead, the official target is 3 working days, counted from a complete, error-free application. In our experience, many applications take 5 to 7 working days, and longer before holidays.
  • Also, no embassy or hotline can speed up an e-visa that is waiting at Vietnam Immigration.
  • Finally, errors restart the clock. A wrong name, an unclear photo or a wrong entry port means a new application and a new fee.

In contrast, we have handled urgent Vietnam visas for more than 10 years. Therefore, we check each application before it is submitted, follow it through every working session in Vietnam, and show the expected result time before you pay.

Before you land, read our Vietnam entry procedure guide (step by step from the aircraft to the arrivals hall) and our Vietnam customs rules guide (duty-free allowance, cash limits and banned items).

FAQ: expediting a Vietnam visa

Can every nationality get an urgent Vietnam e-visa?

Yes, expediting a Vietnam visa is possible for every nationality. Since August 2023, citizens of all countries and territories can apply for the e-visa, with stays of up to 90 days.

My country is visa-free. Can I still get a visa?

Yes, for example if you need a longer stay or multiple entries. An e-visa of up to 90 days is available to you as well.

Which is faster: a new e-visa or a speed-up?

Both can deliver results in 2 working hours. However, they suit different cases. For example, a speed-up is cheaper if your existing application is correct. A new application is the right choice if it has a mistake, or if you have not applied yet.

Can I get a Vietnam visa on a weekend?

Yes, also on Vietnamese public holidays, as a new application. Email info@vietnamimmigration.org for the fastest reply, or use our weekend and holiday form. Order before 14:30 Vietnam time for a result by 18:30 the same day.

Does a holiday in my own country delay my visa?

No. In fact, only Vietnamese working days and public holidays count.
