Indian Passport Holder: Vietnam E-Visa Still in Processing and Your Trip Is Coming Up?

Indian travellers are among the largest groups applying for the Vietnam e-visa, and a status still in processing a few days before the flight is a common worry. In most cases the application is simply waiting in line at Vietnam Immigration, which counts working days Monday to Friday. You can speed up the application you already submitted. Before you do, check three things that matter for Indian passports: your name fields, your entry and exit points, and whether you plan to visit Phu Quoc only.
We are a private visa service, not the Vietnamese government or the Embassy of India. Vietnam Immigration decides every e-visa.
Check 1: your name, exactly as in the passport
Indian passports sometimes show only a given name, or a surname and given name in a different order from how you write them every day. The e-visa portal asks for your full name exactly as it appears on the ICAO line, the two rows of letters at the bottom of the photo page, in capital letters.
- Copy the ICAO line, not your usual spelling.
- Do not add a father’s name or a family name that is not printed there.
- If your passport has only one name, copy it as printed and ask us before you apply again, so the name fields match.
However, a wrong name is not fixed by speeding up the application. Instead, it needs a new application.
Check 2: where you enter and leave Vietnam
The Embassy of India in Hanoi has warned Indian e-visa holders that some had trouble leaving Vietnam through land borders, because the exit points for e-visas and regular visas can differ. If your trip ends overland, for example into Cambodia or Laos, check that the crossing accepts e-visas on the official list at evisa.gov.vn. In addition, enter through the port you selected in the application.
Check 3: are you only visiting Phu Quoc?
Phu Quoc island offers visa-free entry for some foreign nationals, including Indians, who fly there directly. The Embassy of India’s April 2026 advisory, reported by Business Today, says this covers the island only and advises Indians to get a regular Vietnam visa anyway, in case they need to leave the island. If your e-visa is in processing and your trip includes any other city, you still need the visa.
Count the time in Vietnam working hours
Meanwhile, India is 1 hour 30 minutes behind Vietnam. A result due at 12:00 in Vietnam arrives at 10:30 in India.
| Vietnam time | India time (IST) |
|---|---|
| 08:00, working day starts | 06:30 |
| 12:00, morning working session ends | 10:30 |
| 18:00, afternoon working session ends | 16:30 |

FAQ for Indian travellers
Can the Indian Embassy speed up my Vietnam e-visa?
No. Instead, the e-visa is decided by Vietnam Immigration. The Indian Embassy in Hanoi helps Indian citizens in Vietnam, for example in emergencies, but it does not process Vietnamese visas.
My passport expires in 5 months. Is that a problem?
It can be, because Vietnam generally expects your passport to be valid for at least 6 months. Check this before you pay for any service.
Do Indian holidays affect processing?
No. Only Vietnam’s working days and public holidays count.
